Nested Kubernetes Cluster for Enhanced 3 Ps (Performance, Price and Provisioning)
Kubernetes enables a possibility to develop cloud native microservices or decompose traditional applications making them more technologically advanced with the help of containers. But there is always room for improving 3 Ps – Performance, Price and Provisioning. Currently, most of the Kubernetes solutions are offered on top of VMs that brings a set of limitations while scaling and extra complexity while maintaining the workloads. Kubernetes includes a variety of components, many features are only CLI and API-managed, so launching this orchestration platform with full virtualization is complex and time-consuming. Rescheduling of containers inside VMs in order to scale them leads to performance degradation. In addition, this brings overpay for the unused resources that are allocated as a backup for load spikes. Implementing nested architecture of containers inside containers opens more flexibility in terms of resource allocation and management, accelerates provisioning of the clusters and pods, as well as cuts the overall costs. During this session we’ll demonstrate how to setup a nested Kubernetes cluster inside containers, what configurations should be taken into account, and how to overcome the barriers on the way to more efficient Kubernetes hosting.
